NOC ENGINEER
Network Operations Support Engineer

My client is currently looking for a Network Operations Support Engineer to join their growing team. You will be required to monitor, maintain and repair the Network. Provide world class service to customers. The NOC Engineer is the first point of contact for customers, repairing technical issues and dealing with administrative requirements and queries. The NOC Engineer will provide a fix for customer issues during the first call and repair 90% of faults without technical escalation. You will react to network alarms the NOC Engineer ensures network downtime is minimised and faults are fixed rapidly and proactively.

Main Responsibilities:

You will be based in the NOC on a shift pattern covering 24 x 7 x 365 days a year to provide technical support across the full product portfolio. Configuration and troubleshooting of Layer 2 issues at the command line. Monitoring of the Layer 1 and Layer 2 network via NOC tools. Also taking ownership of issues from the time of receipt through to resolution.

Experience required:

Operational support within various WAN infrastructures in a Telecoms/ISP environment:

• Ethernet-based including VLAN/MPLS technologies
• CWDM/DWDM networks

Experience operating of Juniper/Cisco based IP-architectures including:

Knowledge of Juniper Junos and Cisco IOS based infrastructures

VPN/MPLS based circuits (L2vpn, L3vpn)

Routing protocols and configurations (ISIS, OSPF, BGP)

• Quality of Service mechanisms
• Firewall security configurations (Netscreen/Fortinet)

Understanding of fibre based and transport protocols:

CWDM/DWDM architectures

Operational support and use of Huawei, Ciena or similar vendor equipment.
